We are a group of private individuals who have strong associations with the South Island High Country. We have watched land reform proceed from our different perspectives over 15 years.
We have come to understand that tenure review is a disastrous process that destroys something immeasurably precious and fundamental to our national identity as New Zealanders. We have found that most New Zealanders know little or nothing about it, or its consequences. And many who do know something about tenure review are unable to speak out publicly against it, because their jobs could be compromised.
This allows the sad travesty of Tenure Review to continue.
Recently, authoritative research from the political science, ecological and economic arenas has confirmed our impressions: Tenure Review is a disaster for the things we care about.
We believe this work needs to be brought together, better understood, and promulgated.
Too much has been irrevocably lost already. If Government fails to act in the light of current understanding, history will judge them harshly.
We believe the solutions are simple. Hence this website.
